This annoucement follows the launch of Apple's Iphone 5S the first cellphone to ever use this technology.

An interesting fact about the 64-bit tehcnology is that it can in teory address 18,400,000 trillion values, which if a app has been desingned for this technology it means it retrives data from larger memory insted of let's say the hard disk, speeding up the processing chain.

32-bit processor can handle 4GB of RAM but 64-bit processor can handle 16 billion gigabytes of RAM, but more RAMmakes it expensive an power-hungry, that is why the Samsung note 3 has a bigger than normal battery: 3,200 mAh battery.

So all-in-all the technology is a straight upgrade to the old 32-bit technology.
